| Four Easy Projects With Layers |
11. Create abstract brushes. Similar to creating a photo object,
you can start by choosing a favorite photo, preferably one with
lots of color and/or interesting shapes. We chose an abstract photo of some flower petals.
Use the Magic Wand Tool  to
select any portion of the image. The important thing to remember is to be creative!
Now, copy-paste this selection into a new layer (Image->Layers->Add Layer) within your project
(rotate and resize it as you see fit).
To help it blend in with the rest of your image, try blurring the
selection by
going to the Special Effects dialog under the
Image menu and choosing Blur.
As always, you can also reduce the opacity of your
layer from the Layer tab menu.
12. Modify the opacity of any layer for artistic effect.
Right click on any layer tab and use the opacity slider to change the transparency of the chosen layer.
13. Print or publish your creation.
