Four Easy Projects With Layers

7. Create a new layer and add a photo. You can always reselect the photo for moving or rotating by choosing Select All from the Edit menu (Ctrl+A).

To resize the photo, choose resize from the Image menu and make sure the default Resize Selection is still checked before resizing.

You can also rotate your photo using the knob on the Tool Setting Panel.

Want to add a shadow? A well-placed shadow can make your photo seem like it is hovering somewhere above the page. Click on the Effects button on the Tool Setting Panel and choose Shadows. Set the position and darkness of the shadow in the Define Shadow dialog.

You can also apply special effects using the Image menu commands or change the opacity of the layer using the Layer menu (click on the downward arrow on the layer's tab).

In this example, we simply rotated the image and added a shadow to lift it off the page.
