Four Easy Projects With Layers

4. Open any other photos or graphics you want to add to your project using the FotoFinish Explorer (learn more).

You can add your own images or choose from the included stock graphics.

5. Scan in textures. Place a piece of interesting fabric or paper on your scanner and choose Get Images from Scanner in the File menu. Follow the step by step dialogs to import your scanned image.

Copy-paste your texture to a new layer and resize it to fit your project.

Experiment scanning in your favorite textiles, a dried leaf, or simply a ticket stub or passport page.

For our example, we scanned in a page from a dictionary. Next, we selected the text by using the Magic Wand Tool located on the toolbar. Clicking on the white portion of the page allowed us to select the background and then we chose Invert Selection from the Edit menu to select the text.

Once the scanned text was copy-pasted to a new layer in our project file, we rotated it using the rotation knob located on the Tool Settings Panel and adjusted its opacity using the layer's menu.

Add a border 6. Add a border. If you want to add a border to an image, you should do so before combining it with your main project.

In the Wizard Panel, select Borders and click on the Add Border button. Choose a border style and click OK to apply.

Hint: For a clean, modern look, choose the custom frame and set it to white.
