Four Easy Projects With Layers

 |
As you take your first steps into the world of digital photo editing, layers might seem
intimidating and too complex to work with. You may even think that layers
are only useful to advanced graphics professionals.
In reality, layers can
help you with the simplest of photo editing tasks. They give you the freedom to
experiment while preserving the integrity of your original image. They also allow
you to quickly go back and adjust your photo in different states
without having to modify or recreate the entire project.
Let's look at some examples to see how you too can incorporate layers in your everyday digital workflow:

Do you prefer the sepia or B&W version of your photograph?
Which level of exposure adjustment is just right?
Instead of using undo or keeping track of multiple copies of your images,
just keep different versions of the same image in a single file using layers.
Simply copy-paste your original photo into a new layer and make your
changes to the new layer instead of the original photograph.
Toggle between the various versions using the tabs at the top of the page.
