| How to Touch Up Photos with FotoFinish |
Working with Color
Like exposure, color is an integral part of working with photos and graphics. Most digital
cameras have automatic white balance settings. These settings allow
the camera to compensate for the different color temperatures of light.
If you use the wrong white balance setting
in your camera, you might get an unwanted color cast in your image.
You can correct color balance, hue, and saturation in an image editing software like FotoFinish.

| What is Color Balance? |
Color balance refers to the relative intensity of colors in your image.
A picture taken at sunset can seem too yellow or orange. A picture taken under
fluorescent lights might seem too green.
By adjusting color balance you can correct the overall color tone of an image.
The colors are divided into three pairs: Cyan and Red; Magenta and Green;
and Yellow and Blue. As you increase the amount of one color, you also automatically reduce its inverse.

Once your image is open in the work area, select Adjust Colors in
the Image menu. Scroll through the previews to select the image that
looks best to you.
Or, for manual control, click on the More button at the lower right
corner of the dialog. Drag the slider toward a color to increase
the amount of that color. As you increase the amount of one color, you also automatically reduce its inverse.
Create a more natural color tone for a photo by adjusting color balance.

| What is Hue? |
Hue refers to the color value of the image. You can think of hue as a
colored filter that defines the tone for an entire image. As you adjust
the hue of an image you shift the entire color spectrum over by degrees.
This can be very useful for creating colorized special effects.

| What is Saturation? |
Saturation refers to the intensity of color.
Add some visual punch to an otherwise dull image by increasing color saturation.
| Adjust Saturation in FotoFinish |
In FotoFinish, you can adjust saturation under the Adjust Color
command in the Image menu. Once in the Adjust Color dialog,
select Adjust Hue, click on the More button
and adjust saturation by sliding the slider to the right or left, or
by typing in a value manually. Moving the slider to the
right increases saturation and moving the slider to the left decreases it.
