FotoFinish Tip of the Month

Printing Selected Photos from an Album To print a selected group of photos from a specific album, first choose an
Album in the first dialog of the Print Wizard.
Next, uncheck any images you don't want to print by clicking
on them once. You should see a red X appear above the
images that won't be printed. To print the rest of the
images, simply follow the Wizard's step-by-step instructions.

The FotoFinish Photo Lab
Retouching an Old Photo
Now that the kids are back in school and your summer photos are all
printed or archived, why not take a look at what might be hidden
in an old photo box and in desperate need of a makeover?
Using FotoFinish SUITE, you can restore your photos of grandparents and
great grandparents to give as gifts to others or yourself.
Step 1 - Scan in an Old Photo
Start by choosing Get Images from Scanner in the File menu and follow
the wizard's instructions on transferring your images from the scanner to your computer.

Step 2 - Zoom in
By default, FotoFinish opens images to best fit the work area.
This means that
larger images will appear zoomed out so you can see the entire picture.
When trying to fix small cracks and remove dust, don't be afraid to get
personal with your photograph. Zoom in to any affected area by choosing the
Zoom Tool and clicking on the left mouse button.
Click on the right mouse button to zoom out.
Step 3 - Touch Up
To remove scratches or dust from a photo, use the Touch Up Tool
located on the Wizard Window. FotoFinish's Touch Up Brush lets you
paint over blemishes using a selected flawless area of your image
as the "paint."
First, select a clean area of your image to use as the paint pattern. Click on the
pattern preview box to get a selection tool, then trace a rectangle around the
area of your image you would like to use as your paint pattern. In most cases
it's best to use a small selection similar in shade and color to the problem area.
Rinse and repeat as necessary.
Step 4 - Print and Share!

Learn the Secrets of Resolution
The key to successfully editing, scanning, and printing images lies in understanding how pixels transform into inches and vice versa.
Resolution is the interpreter between the physical world of inches and the digital world of pixels. When you scan an image, the scanner translates inches into pixels using resolution. When you print an image, the printer translates pixels into inches using resolution.
So what's resolution? Unfortunately, the word is used in different ways in different contexts. "Camera resolution" usually means something slightly different from "image resolution", and "printer resolution" is something else yet again.
