FotoFinish Tip of the Month
Take Stock of Your Stock Graphics —
In addition to thousands of stock photos, with FotoFinish SUITE you also get hundreds of
graphics you can use to decorate photos and photo projects.
To browse through them, open
the green Stock Graphics folder in your FotoFinish Explorer and mouse over the graphics
for previews.
Instead of double-clicking to open a graphic, simply drag-and-drop it to an
open photo or project. By default, the graphic will remain selected allowing you to resize
or rotate it, and even apply special effects.

Note: The current version of FotoFinish SUITE
no longer includes any stock photos. FotoFinish SUITE still includes over 1000 graphics and over 200 layouts.

Create Your Own Eye-Catching Backgrounds for Scrapbooks, Collages and More!
Start your next photo project with a cool, custom-made, photo
background - and everyone will wonder how you did it!
Step 1. Pick a favorite photo or choose from one of the thousands included free with
FotoFinish SUITE.
Step 2. Alter the photo's hue or color balance for a dramatic effect.
To change the
hue, select Adjust Hue from the Adjust Colors dialog under the Image menu.
Step 3. Add a special effect. Click on Special Effects under the Image menu and choose
Texturize. Choose a texture that fits your theme.
Step 4. Want to create a more faded effect. First, create a new layer by selecting
Image->Layers->Add New Layer. Then fill this layer with a
uniform white color by selecting the layer (Ctrl+A) and
calling up the Image->Fill command. Finally,
reduce the new layer's opacity by sliding the opacity bar located under the layer tab
to the left.
Step 5. Launch your scrapbook work area by clicking on "Create New Layout" on your Home tab and insert
the custom background you just created into your work area using simple copy and paste. Now all you have
to do is add some photo frames for that perfect scrapbook layout.

Learn to Take Better Pictures
Practice Backdrop Awareness
The secret to a great picture lies not just in the subject you pick, but what you include in the
picture behind it.
A cluttered background can ruin an otherwise perfect photo by distracting or confusing the viewer.
So how can you capture the perfect backdrop on busy streets and parks, especially when you're
working with on-the-move subject matter like children and animals? Look for neutral, uniform
backgrounds like bushes and walls. Reposition yourself or your subject so you minimize distraction
that can compete with your subject.
You can also try kneeling down and framing your subject against the sky. Avoid lampposts,
telephone poles, and trees that can appear to grow out of your subject's head.
Right before you click the shutter button, it's a good idea to scan your frame not just for any stray
fingers or camera straps, but for any other unwanted distractions in the background.
